Welcome to Visual Arts in Rural Communities!
Since 2000 Visual Arts in Rural Communities has been offering artists a chance to spend a year living and working at Highgreen, Tarset; a beautiful remote part of rural Northumberland. During the residency artists develop their own work and engage with residents and visiting groups through their daily life, workshops and exhibitions. It has also initiated projects and set up funds to contribute financially to local arts projects and to projects proposed by Northumberland-based artists.

Jilly Morris has spent a year as an artist in residence at Highgreen, Tarset, deep in the Northumbrian countryside. Away from her usual city life in Bristol, she has created artwork that reflects the Northumbrian landscape and community around her.
